
Jessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24, 1977) is an American actress and producer. Her most famous work is her performances in films with feminist themes. She has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2012. Chastain began to develop an interest in acting at an early age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. After completing her acting studies at the Juilliard School, she was awarded a talent-holding contract with the TV producer John Wells. She was frequently a guest on a variety of television shows and was a part of several stage productions. Chastain made her film debut with Jolene (2008) aged 31. She continued to release six films in the year of 2011, including The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). For her roles as an aspiring socialite as well as a CIA analyst, she won Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). Greater commercial success came with the science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), and the horror movie It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain has also received praise for playing strong-willed women in the dramas The Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), and in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (2021). In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921) she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She received the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that promotes diversity and inclusion in film. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as also gender and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
