Her first appearance as actor in 1997 at the age 13 years old. When she was 13, after attending several courses and carrying out background work on Canadian series like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy, she got her first part in a spoken role the Canadian Children's Horror anthology Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of The Dark?, both series were aired by YTV. The series ran for four seasons. The film that she played her first in, The Lookout, was released in the year 2006. It featured Jeff Daniels along with Matthew Goode as well as Isla Fischer. Vandervoort was cast on Smallville in a drama serial on The CW. Her role is Clark Kent's Kryptonian "Kara Kent" as the character that will eventually transform into Supergirl. [2][3][5][8] She was a regular during season seven and appeared in"Bloodline," the "Bloodline" episode for season eight. [3] In the tenth season and final episode of Smallville, she returned to reprise her role in two episodes. Vandervoort filmed the sequel film to Into the Blue, titled Into the Blue 2 - The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. The film also featured Canadian actor Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
