Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very early how to get out of difficulties through her vibrant and imaginative imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could write or read. After 8 years of age, she was playing her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. While she was an established local celebrity while at high school, her ambitions were bigger. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host in the late '60s, was looking for a singer on his show. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. It was not until 1974 when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's band because the popularity of her solo albums like Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene was outstripping their joint efforts. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the number. number 1 position after the duo broke up. First time, in 1974.
